Our Adoption Guidelines

Our Adoption Guidelines:
While we certainly do not wish to discourage anyone from adopting a pet, we do have certain requirements you should meet in order to adopt one of the animals in our care. Please review these carefully before you fill out an adoption application:
  • If you are interested in training for your new family member, we provide a coupon for a $50 towards a training session with Heather Moore of Wag it Better.
  • A physical fence may be required, depending on the dog.
  • We do not adopt out outdoor pets.
  • All current animals in the home must be spayed or neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm preventative.
  • A current veterinary reference is required.
  • For American Pit Bull Terriers/Staffordshire Terriers and some other breeds, special homeowners insurance may be required.  Please check with your agent.
  • You must own your home to adopt a Pit Bull or Staffordshire Terrier from Operation Education.
  • A home visit by an Operation Education representative is required.

Adoption Process

In order to ensure that our adoptables find homes that best fit their needs, we have created an adoption process to help us fulfill that promise.
  • Fill out an adoption application so we can better understand your lifestyle to ensure it's a good match.
  • Once your application has been received, it may take several days to be approved.  We are stringent in our approval process and appreciate your patience.
  • After approval, our team will contact you to set up a home visit.
  • If all goes well during the home visit, we will begin the 5 to 10 day trial run.  The trial run allows time for everyone to become comfortable before deciding to finalize the adoption.
When we bring these animals into our rescue, we make them a promise that they will always have a family to love them. We adhere to this adoption policy in order to make sure that their happily ever afters are forever.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please read carefully before sending an email.

1. Is a fence ALWAYS required?
Usually, yes. There are rare exceptions made depending on the specific animals disposition and the family's circumstances. This is not the norm and should not be expected.

2. What are your adoption fee donations?
Puppies (9 months & younger)  $250
Dogs over 9 months  $200
Senior dogs (over 10 years of age)  $150
Cats  $50

3. How long does an adoption take?
Each situation is different, so it could take 3 days or 3 weeks.

4. Do you ever adopt unaltered animals?
No. The huge over population of companion animals in the U.S. leads to millions being euthanized every year. Operation Education does not advocate the continuation of this epidemic and will not adopt out any unaltered animals.
